Puddles are for jumping

After 26 very long and hot hours, our power came back on this afternoon. We experienced some wicked storms yesterday afternoon around 3 and as a result, lost power on what was to be one of the hottest days of the season... GREAT!

Adam and I were hanging out and watching things blow around when we really should have been in the basement riding this thing out. We were engaging in some interesting discussions about what needs electricity to operate and what doesn't. He was not thrilled with most of my answers. Finally, in a very sad, sobbing voice, he asked "What about the oven? What are we going to eat for dinner?" I believe this is a flash forward to my future with this boy and his obsession with his stomach.

When things settled again and the thunder and lightning let up, we donned our boots and rain coats and proceeded to jump in every puddle we could find. Been reading a book, "Dangerous Wonder" by Mike Yaconelli, about experiencing life and faith with the passion of a child. Think we accomplished that in the puddles!

So glad you guys survived the power outage and the scary storms! that book sounds intriguing...will have to look it up. We are in the midst of a blistering heatwave and our church picnic is outside today...sigh. Trying to think positively. ;)
